Pair of sophomore Beavers set to join Portland

Press Release | January 12, 2018

PORTLAND - Catcher Jordan Mambaje of the Oregon State Beavers will be joining the Pickles prior to his sophomore season in Corvallis.

"Jordan is a hard worker and is a great teammate," said OSU Coach Pat Bailey. "He has a very good idea of what he is doing at the plate offensively. Jordan communicates with our pitching staff very well and should be a great addition to the Pickles baseball program."

Mambaje graduated from Clackamas High in 2017, but not before winning the 6A State Championships in State of Oregon. The 5'9" 210 pound catcher from Boring, Oregon has a strong catcher's build and is quick behind the plate, boasting a 1.95 pop time. Mambaje is an aggressive right-handed hitter who stands off the plate, looks to get his arms extended, and plans to drive the baseball to all parts of the field.

Zach Busalacchi, will also be in Portland for the 2018 West Coast League Season and ahead of his sophomore season with the Beavers.

"He [Busalacchi] has an opportunity to hit with power to all areas of the field," Bailey said of the first baseman. "He is a big target [at first base] and does a very good job around the bag for being such a big man. He is a big-time team guy and will help the Pickles in 2018."

Zach attended Orange Lutheran in southern California; one of the top baseball schools in the country. The player stands 6'4", weighs 235 pounds, and will hit for power for the Pickles during the upcoming season.

"We are thrilled to have Jordan and Zach play for the Pickles this summer," indicated Gregg Swenson, Director of Baseball Operations for Rose City Baseball. "They both come highly regarded from the Beavers staff and will add some middle-of-the-order power to our lineup."

Both Jordan and Zach start their freshman seasons at Oregon State on February 16th in Surprise, Arizona against the University of New Mexico.
