Pickles Can’t Overcome Miscues, Drop Opener

In a game that lasted a little over four hours the Bend Elks were able to outlast the hometown Portland Pickles and pull out a 12-10 victory.  The Pickles were hurt by multiple errors and a couple fly balls that were lost in the night sky that fell in for hits that ultimately led to a 9 run top of the 5thinning for the Bend Elks.  The Pickles were able to cut that lead to one in the 7thinning before surrendering another run to lead to the eventual 12-10 loss.  Gabe Skoro who was 2-4 with two runs scored along with three RBI’s paced the Pickles on offense.  Pickles will be back in action tomorrow when they take on the Elks for game two as the Mazatlan Venados.  First pitch at 7:05
