Portland Bats Can’t Come Around To Avoid Sweep

On a lovely Father’s day at Walker Stadium, the Portland Pickles could only muster two hits in an eventual 3-0 loss in the final game of a series with the Bend Elks.  It was a pitching dual early, as Pickles starter Titus Groeneweg was nails for the home nine as he gave up only two hits over 4 innings with 5 strikeouts.  Bend starter Nick Hernandez answered the call with 5 scoreless innings of his own. Bend was able to scratch across 3 runs in the top of the 5thand never looked back.  The Pickles two hits of the day belonged to Kyle Manzardo and Chase Luttrell.  The Pickles hit the road for a three game series in Walla Walla before returning home next weekend to take on the Victoria Harbour Cats on Friday June 21st.
