Pickles Drop 12 Inning Marathon

Fresh out of the all star break the Pickles hosted the Corvallis Knights in the first of a home and away 3 game series. Recent games between the two teams have been fairly low scoring and competitive dating all the way back to there playoff series a summer ago. Tonight was no different as the two teams took a 0-0 tie all the way until the 12th inning when Corvallis was able to scratch across two runs. It was a frustrating night for the Pickles as they had a few chances to get on the board and seize control of the game, that just didn’t work out. The Portland Pitching was once again a bright spot as Brad McVay, Christian Ciuffetelli, Tim Post, and Jack Noble combined for 11 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts, before the eventual winning two runs came across in the 12th. Pickles were led on offense by 7 different players having a base hit apiece. Pickles will hit the road to play game two against Corvallis, before returning home to finish the series on Friday.
