Back to Back to Back Jacks, Stellar Pitching Help Pickles Avoid Sweep

In what can really only be defined as a “must win” game for Portland they responded to the call about as well as a team could. What started once again as a classic Corvallis-Portland competitive back and forth game, the Pickles were able to break it open in the 6th inning with some power. John Jensen led off the 6th by depositing a ball over the left field wall, fellow outfielder John Arndorfer did the exact same thing the very next at-bat. After a pitching change Kyle Manzardo welcomed the new arm to the game by ripping the third straight home run in a row to give the Pickles a 4-1 lead. They were able to add another insurance run in the 8th on a Kyle Velazquez single. Pickles pitching was once again on point as starter KC Hunt, Trent Bixby, and Christian Ciuffetelli combined to surrender one run on four hits, and registered 11 strikeouts. Pickles were led on offense by Jensen, Arndorfer, and Manzardo who each had two hits and an RBI. Pickles will hit the road for a weekend series in Wenatchee beginning tomorrow.
