The 2019 season has come to an end and we’re already counting down the days until 2020’s opening day!
With another amazing season in the books, we can’t thank our fans enough — you’re the best in the West Coast League!
The Pickles finished the season 24-29 overall, but had a 15-12 second half, which landed them in second place in the WCL South division. The Pickles had two pitchers represented in Bend for the All Star game, Titus Groeneweg and Connor Thurman. John Jensen led the team in batting average, finishing the season with a .338 average, placing 4th in the whole WCL. Jensen and fellow teammate Thomas Rudinsky were tied for the home run team lead with 7 overall. Brad McVay led the way on the mound with 55 strikeouts, over 45 innings and a 2.60 era.
Over the course of the season, The Pickles debuted their Rockin The Walk Series, which included live concerts every Friday before the game, in addition to new promotional nights, including D.B. Cooper Night, Mazatlan Venados Night, Future Baseball Night, Soccer City USA and Tattoo Tuesday. The Pickles also kept fan favorite promotional nights such as Woof Wednesday, Hawaiian Night and Keep Portland Weird Night.
The 2019 summer was also the debut of some new ballpark arrangements, including the new Deschutes Pickle Plaza, Dillons Hideaway and the Lazarus Naturals Patriot Box — all created to help enhance the viewing experience for fans.
